My inspiration is the Canadian landscape, symbols and landmarks, but everyday places are also part of my inspirational palette. My country of birth, Brazil, is another endless source of beautiful themes. I like to recall places where I lived and visited, and images that come from my fondest childhood and family memories.
I always had a great interest in tile painting, especially in the Portuguese (Azulejo) and Dutch (Delft Blue) techniques of painting in hues and shades of blue. Decorative tiles have been around for centuries in Asia, Europe, Africa and virtually around the world.
As much as I like the blue painting, I also paint using a variety of colours, as many themes are more well expressed in a colourful fashion.
